Legend has it that John Boyle used to work as a bread delivery man, and it was only when he lost his job that he set up BoyleSports as a conventional bookmaker in Ireland. However, he took early advantage of the growth of online gaming and has built up a substantial online presence while adding casino gaming, poker, slots and virtual racing.
The company has recently taken over some William Hill premises and now has has 182 shops in Ireland, making it the biggest independent bookmaker in the country. BoyleSports sponsors various sporting events and runs the International Poker Open, the largest live poker event in Europe, in Dublin.
The racing coverage is very strong, and the site brings a flavour of the turf with it and a touch of Ireland by covering hurling. It’s a pleasant change from some of the more robotic online sites, and it also has a good offer of slots and casino play, so it’s definitely worth a look.
The slots feature all the regular favourites of the slots world, including MicroGaming, whose Mega Moolah enjoys great popularity. They also have Pragmatic Play titles such as Wolf Gold. BoyleSports has a partnership with Net Entertainment (NetEnt).
There is a good range of casino table gaming, slots and live casino action. They have multi-line slots, such as Gladiator, Batman, Man Of Steel, and the Flintstones. Right now, 7-Up and Finn and the Swirly Spin are hot. MegaFortune Jackpot is really popular, as is the much-loved Starburst.
There are several new offerings, too. Just to make your mouth water, the jackpot on Jackpot Giant has been known to hit nearly 10 million. Blackjack, Age of the Gods roulette, Penny roulette and other casino gaming titles are also available.
If you enter your mobile number and country, you’ll receive a link to download the app for your phone. Alternatively, you can download it from the Android or Apple app stores, and you can always log onto the website using a browser.
BoyleSports has a range of live casino action, including roulette and live Baccarat with multi-player functionality. In addition to full-screen video and the opportunity to chat with other players, there are side bets just in case you’re getting restless.
You can get to the live casino through the menu bar at the top of the screen or by opening the Poker software and selecting the “Casino” option.
There are some banking restrictions for players coming from outside Ireland and the UK, even if they are from EU countries. However, if you qualify, there are lots of ways to deposit. In fact, because BoyleSports is also a physical bookmaker, you can walk into one of their shops in Ireland and fund your account in cash.
In the UK, you’ll have to stick to MasterCard, Visa and Electron debit and credit cards. There are various rules that must be followed. For example. you are only allowed one active card to access your account, and prepaid cards are not accepted.
However, e-wallets such as Skrill, Neteller, PayPal, Paysafecard and Euteller are all welcomed, and there are a number of other less widely-used payment methods available.
Maximum withdrawals are subject to rules that are tied to the kind of sporting event that a bet was placed on. If you need more information, be sure to look up the rules for a particular sport; the Help system has plenty of information.
As is common with most casinos, when you withdraw cash, it needs to go back onto the card or payment method with which the deposit was made. BoyleSports aims to process a withdrawal within 24 hours, which is not the fastest in the industry but not the worst, either.
After that, the payment can take anywhere from three to five working days to hit your account. You can withdraw by bank transfer provided that the account is in the same name as the one you used to open your BoyleSports account.
BoyleSports has a UK 0800 phone number, a live chat facility, a Twitter account, email and a YouTube channel. The Help Knowledgbase is pretty comprehensive and easy to use, so their customer support offering is very good.
Boyle Sports has an exceptionally good guidance section on what to do if you are having problems with gambling. There is very practical advice and a whole range of options, from self-exclusion to setting limits on how long you will play in each session. Players can phone customer support for help, and the phone number is given in the information section.
The site is also affiliated with both Gamcare and GambleAware for those who are experiencing problems with gambling.
BoyleSports uses a 2048-bit SSL certificate to ensure secure play, no matter how the site is accessed. This provides a very high level of encryption so that no one can intercept play or payments.
The company is authorised by the UK Gambling Commission. It's a member of The Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS), which is a dispute resolution mediator approved by the Gambling Commission.
The RTP (Return to Player) values are listed on the site for each game. BoyleSports sample 20 million hands every year so they can be sure that every spin is completely random.
The New Customer offer is up to £25 in free bets, and this is for cash bets only. You must start with a bet of £10, and that wins you your first free £5 bet. You can now get up to four further free £5 bets.
However, after that first-time £5 bonus, you get matched bets equal to 50 per cent of the average of the next three bets you make that qualify. That can be up to £5. In order to get the £5, you would need to place an average of £30 in three bets. To get the full £25 free bet, you would need to bet 13 times. BoyleSports does state this clearly in its offer description.
BoyleSports doesn’t offer a no-deposit games bonus.
On the casino side, there is a New Player welcome, with three “buy-in bonuses” and 50 free spins. The offer is up to £300 extra in addition to your deposit. How this works is that the package comprises three offers.
Offer 1 is a 100 per cent deposit match to a £100 maximum. Offer 2 is 50 per cent up to £100 and Offer 3 is 100 per cent up to £100. You have to claim these offers in that exact order and a bonus can only be paid if you are buying in at least £20.
You can only put down a buy-in of £100 for Offer 1, £200 for Offer 2 and £100 for Offer 3. The wagering requirement is x20, and you must complete this before you can withdraw. Once you’ve been through the three stages, you get 50 free spins. They only apply to certain games, but that is pretty standard with these offers. Also, some slots aren’t available while you have an active bonus running.
Note that not all of the games have the same weighting toward the wagering requirements. You can find a list of the values for each game in the FAQs section.
Although nothing is officially promoted, it is likely that their VIP players are given special promo deals and bonuses as nearly all sites do this.
There are points to be won in the casino. Every time you spend £10, you’ll get one point, and you can convert these to cash once you’ve built up enough of them. There is a menu of “Daily Specials”. These offers are only available for certain matches, race meetings or events on that day.
An example might be money back if your horse falls at the last or first jump at a given National Hunt meeting. The offer is available only for single bets in the outright betting market. The maximum refund is £20. If there are 12 or more horses in a race, BoyleSports may decide to give ⅕ odds for four places, which is better than the usual offer.
There are many other promo bets daily for specific matches and events. The range of sports covered is good, including hurling, golf, dog and horse racing, football, darts and rugby. If you’re into accumulators, this is the site for you; they offer loyalty bets and insurance.
Odds quoted on both horses and dogs have best price guarantees. If your horse is under starting orders but fails to start, you’re up for a refund of anything up to £100. This applies to single bets and outright betting.
Like many other online sites, if you deposited money via Neteller, Skrill, Moneybookers or prepaid card, it won't qualify for the bonus.
