The title of Cash Stax certainly sounds like a very non-thematic title for a slot game to have. And you’d be right in thinking so. Upon loading the game up, you’ll see that it’s really a classic slot game in the body of a modern day video slot. However, even with that being the case, you’ll find that it incorporates high quality graphics and gameplay. And despite it providing some fairly basic icons and imagery, there are one or two surprises in the game too. Let’s also not forget that it features a nice enough soundtrack too. So many slots tend to shy away in this area and stick to a generic arcade-sounding piece of music. However, one thing that can be said for Cash Stax, is that everything merges together in a good way. Therefore, you can guarantee a flowing, smooth slot game on the whole.
The general interface of the game is quite consistent with video slots, providing five reels and three rows. However, you’ll also see five separate sections above each of these reels, which we’ll get to a little bit later on. As well as this, Barcrest has made sure to add a total of 10 different pay lines into the game. The lines are also set in position, so you cannot alter them in any way. One thing that you do have the option to customise though, is the bet that you place per spin. This is changeable by using the plus and minus buttons at the top left of the screen. There, you can adjust the coin stake per line from its minimum of $0.01 up to $20. Therefore, a maximum overall wager of $400 per spin is possible. Not only that, but there’s the addition of the Big Bet button. This is something else that we’ll get to later on too. Now, the visual side of the game is what makes it look more like a classic slot than anything else. While it does have five reels and three rows, its icons are not so modern. The first of its symbols is the cross, which is white in colour against a red background. Then, next in line comes the BAR symbol, and finally, the third standard symbol is the red number 7. Five of these on a winning pay line will multiply your bet by up to times 50! There’s also the addition of the circular nought icon as well. These in their standard form do not provide any kind of pay out. However, they do have the chance to become a golden nought, but that’s something we’ll move on to shortly.
It’s true that most games with such a design don’t really feature special rounds in them. However, Cash Stax begs to differ on this point. To begin with, you’ll find that there is a wild symbol on the reels. This comes in the form of the smirking jester, who looks quite creepy to be fair. As a wild, he will stand in for all other symbols on the reels in order to form a winning combination. The exceptions to this rule are the standard noughts and the golden noughts. Now, when it comes to these golden noughts, this is where the sections above each reel also come into play. Every standard nought icon has the potential to turn into a golden nought. These golden noughts work as freespin rings. You’ll need to bring at least one of these golden noughts into view on each of the reels in order for the freespins round to begin. The amount of golden noughts that you spin will determine how many freespins you receive. So, there is the potential to cover the entire reel set in them and receive a total of 15 freespins altogether. Whenever the noughts turn into golden noughts, they collect in the sections above each reel. Therefore, you can easily see what you have already managed to collect.
Finally, there’s the addition of the Big Bet button. This provides you with the chance to spin five linked spins of the reels at the same wager value. It’s sort of like an Autoplay button. However, in Cash Stax, the minimum bet you can make when playing in Big Bet mode, stands at $20. All wins in this round are accumulative and are paid at the end of the last spin.

First off, players who prefer to play without the casino-floor sounds can turn off the sound from the menu button on the left. From there on, the Cash Stax slot has buttons for the Paytable, for the Big Bet option (to purchase 5 enhanced spins), the spin button and the autospin. All of these are located on the right side of the reel-set.
The total bet for the spin can be set from the plus and minus triangles that are on the opposite side of the buttons that were mentioned above. The smallest stake is one penny per line, which amounts to 0.10p per spin. Once the ten penny per line threshold is crossed, the number of lines becomes 20. The most expensive bet comes at £20.00 per payline, which on all 20 lines will equal £400 per spin.
One of the slots whose standard paylines change depending on the selected bet. The border of 10p per line is the cut-off mark for the 20 paylines. These become active once the player selects this amount. The 30 paylines can only become active with the Big Bet paid bonus, which comes with enhanced chances for the win on 5 spins.
The start button is located on the right side of the reels – typical for Barcrest productions. It is situated between the Big Bet button and the Autospin just below.
This is the button that enables the players to kick back and relax by setting up a number of automatic turns on the reels. The available options are 10, 15, 20, 25 but without the option to set a win or loss limit.
The paytable is accessed by clicking the topmost button of the row on the right. It is represented by the ‘i’ icon and it opens up the information on the symbol pays and details about the gameplay and bonus features.
The Cash Stax slot has the Lucky Sevens symbol for its most valuable one, at 50x on the line bet for a string of five. The BAR symbol is the next one over, paying 10x for the same number of matching symbols.
The Wild is the joker and substitutes for all, except the white and golden ring. The paytable displays the game’s progression of Return to Player percentages, which depending on the number of paylines ranges from 94.12% to 98.14%
Besides the Big Bet option, which lets the player purchase five free spins that come with an increased chances for a win, and on 30 paylines, the other Cash Stax slot bonus feature is the free spins. One or more golden rings on each reel triggers the bonus and in it, the spins can be retriggered. There is a x5 multiplier if all of the free spin rings are on each reel.
